Reviewing Our Motivations and Results in Prayer - A Case for Our Affections

Reviewing Our Motivations and Results in Prayer - A Case for Our Affections

“The consideration of these things has long engaged me to attend to this matter, with the utmost diligence and care, and exactness of search and inquiry, that I have been capable of. It is a subject on which my mind has been peculiarly intent, ever since I first entered on the study of divinity. But as to the success of my inquiries it must be left to the judgment of the reader of the following treatise.”

( Warning: I got a little excited, and ruffled papers, and perhaps overstated. The Lord knows!)

The ultimate reason and result of our prayers is the glory of God.

The chief reason and result of our prayers are to conform us to the word and will of God.

Added to the chief reasons and results for prayer is our steadfast satisfaction with God in fear, hope, love, hatred, desire, joy, sorrow, gratitude, compassion, and zeal.”

The word of God and experience teach us as we set our hearts to a:

Growing

Dynamic

Biblical

Sincere prayer life

we will experience supernatural affections granted to us by our Creator and Savior, and Father who art in heaven in this life now. As we work, tary, and hope in our heavenly home, we will know joy and the abundant life.

In short, a soul-satisfying relation with our God and Savior.

Glory to God in the highest!
