Listen today to God's response to Job's challenge, demanding an answer.
We will hear God asking Job these questions three:
Where were you when I created the universe? Job 38
How do I sustain the universe? Job 39
If you cannot contend with my creation, how will you contend with me? Job 41
Job's humility.:
"Then Job answered the LORD, and said, 2 "I know that Thou canst do all things, And that no purpose of Thine can be thwarted. 3 'Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?' "Therefore I have declared that which I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know." 4 'Hear, now, and I will speak; I will ask Thee, and do Thou instruct me.' 5 "I have heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear; But now my eye sees Thee; 6 Therefore I retract, And I repent in dust and ashes."
Job 42:1-6
Job did not storm in like a prince, and his being humbled in the presence of Almighty God reminds us, as God's treasured people, why our Savior began His ministry with these words::
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
5 "Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.
6 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
7 "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
8 "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God."
Matthew 5:3-9
