Martin Luther, while not banning written prayers, heavily advocated spontaneous prayers from our hearts.
He employed words, such as spontaneous, unprepared, not prescribed, passion from the heart, the ethos of our conversation should be in our language.
Even in prescribed prayers, should be infused by the essence of who we are as His children, formed in the power of the Holy Ghost, and unashamedly expressed intimately and sincerely.
And since He bids me seek His face,
Believe His Word and trust His grace,
I'll cast on Him my every care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!"
