Don't Panic; Richard will be back with us tomorrow.
October 1, 2023, our October Surprise month is here!
Unbelievable quick! Thank You for listening and encouraging the podcast principal, Fred, and Richard Durrington, your amiable announcer.
We have some new stuff coming and some news in a day or two, I am praying, which you may find interesting, but today we commence with day one of our October wrap-ups to year five and prayerfully a launch into year 6!
This month, we will hear every day, as the Lord opens that door, to A Call to Prayer, the parting wisdom and exhortation from J.C. Ryle.
He encourages us to listen to him for a bit longer.
His gracious invitation:
“Let me speak, lastly, to those who do pray. I trust that some who read this tract know well what prayer is, and have the Spirit of adoption. To all such, I offer a few words of brotherly counsel and exhortation. The incense offered in the tabernacle was ordered to be made in a particular way. Not every kind of incense would do. Let us remember this, and be careful about the matter and manner of our prayers.”
As to the manner and matter of our prayers, today, a little perspective, especially for all who are beginning your prayer life or starting again, the art of daily prayer.
Remember:
1. We will start or restart as we do all things haltingly, faulting in the matter, and converse with the Holy God. That is natural; don’t let it discourage you. Pray.
2. Our growth will seem achingly slow. That is natural; don’t give up. Pray.
3. We will fail in the art of prayer. That is natural; don’t give up. Pray.
4. You will miss, miss, and miss times again. This is a new discipline for you, or a troublesome one if you are beginning again. That is natural. Go back to your Savior; He is waiting for you. Pray.
Critically remember:
5. Know you have three others at least who are daily praying for your prayer craft.
The very least of which is the principal, Fred.
To your great encouragement, The Holy Ghost.
And in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; 27 and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
Romans 8:26-27
Your Savior Jesus Christ.
Hence, also, He is able to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
Hebrews 7:25
Forget, if you would, that I pray for you, but never forget, the Spirit and the Savior pray for you continually.
One more promise:
To his own master, he stands or falls; and stand he will, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
To God be the glory! Now and forever!
