Often we feel like we are losing our battle against sin, so we say with Paul:
Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death?
Romans 7:24
Oddly enough, the reason for gratitude comes in verse 25
Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ, our Lord! So then, on the one hand, I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.
How can that be an answer to Paul’s, and our, cry?
Simply put, because
There is, therefore, now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Romans 8:1
Jesus has already delivered us from this body of death!
Our battle with sin is one of the indications we are among the redeemed.
(We will look at repentance and ungodly regret next time, and be thankful.)
Today, do not be discouraged in the battle, but rejoice in it and be thankful.
Because, dear family, Romans 8:1 is truth.
