Jesus Teaches Prayer: The Lord’s Prayer - Hallowed be Thy Name

The artwork on the podcast today shows a bottle my wife found when she was a teenager. I know it was created by sand, the lightning, wind, and cooling rain. If you buy that, I can tell you that our universe was created by mysterious forces, cosmic lighting, and luck.

And after you buy that, I have a bridge in Brooklyn that I can let go for a bargain-basement price! (Only us old guys will get that.)

The very first step in falling short of the glory of God is…”21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God, or give thanks…”

Thomas Manton says of “Hallowed be Thy name…”

"It notes that our chiefest care and affection should be carried out to the glory of God when we pray. We should rather forget ourselves than forget God. God must be remembered in the first place. There is nothing more precious than God himself, therefore nothing should be more dear to us than his glory."

This is the aim of our prayers, and the Biblical benchmark we will grow into with practiced prayer.
