"The consideration of these things has long engaged me to attend to this matter, with the utmost diligence and care, and exactness of search and inquiry, that I have been capable of. It is a subject on which my mind has been peculiarly intent, ever since I first entered on the study of divinity. But as to the success of my inquiries it must be left to the judgment of the reader of the following treatise.

When we pray, "Lead us not into temptation we:

  1. Ready our hearts, minds, and souls to shun sin and present our bodies to righteousness.
  2. Confess to our Father the genuine longing we have to do His will.
  3. Most profoundly, we activate the power of God Almighty in our working out His righteousness in all we do, say, and think.

Psalm 5:8

8 O LORD, lead me in Thy righteousness because of my foes; Make Thy way straight before me.
