Jesus Teaches Prayer Matthew 6:13 Introduction to my Sticky Wicket

Jesus Teaches Prayer Matthew 6:13 Introduction to my Sticky Wicket

"The consideration of these things has long engaged me to attend to this matter, with the utmost diligence and care, and exactness of search and inquiry, that I have been capable of. It is a subject on which my mind has been peculiarly intent, ever since I first entered on the study of divinity. But as to the success of my inquiries it must be left to the judgment of the reader of the following treatise."

As I understand it, a Sticky Wicket is a wet field or pitch at a Cricket match.

We are introduced to what makes Matthew 6:13 troublesome, outline the next few episodes, and learn what a googly is as we examine;

Matthew 6:13

'And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.]'

The word of God says:

God cannot and will never lead anyone into temptation.

Men of whom the world was not worthy experienced mockings and scourgings, chains, and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted, they were put to death with the sword; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated.

The brackets in, [For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.] pose questions as well.

Glory to God in the highest!
