Jesus Teaches Prayer Matthew 6:13 "But Deliver Us From Evil pt 1 - The Perspicuity of Prayer Our Sticky Wicket Explained.

Jesus Teaches Prayer Matthew 6:13

It is most natural for humanity to understand evil. And know it is hurtful.

It is equally natural to do all we can to avoid being faced with or the subject of evil.

Therefore it is most typical for the redeemed to call out to our Father who art in heaven… But deliver us from evil.

It is, however, not Biblical for the chosen of God to set their faith and expectations on never facing evil.

Our sticky wicket?

  1. God's people do face evil.
  2. God designs and wills the evils we face.

Our conundrum resolved.

  1. We are brought to humility.
  2. We are brought to repentance,
  3. We are brought to service.

Job and Peter show the secret council of God, which makes it so.

"The consideration of these things has long engaged me to attend to this matter, with the utmost diligence and care, and exactness of search and inquiry, that I have been capable of. It is a subject on which my mind has been peculiarly intent, ever since I first entered on the study of divinity. But as to the success of my inquiries it must be left to the judgment of the reader of the following treatise."

Glory to God in the highest!
