The easy part:
My grumpy old man prayer (when I remember to employ it) brings much more peace and rest to my soul and is more effective in my personal, face-to-face conflicts.
The hard part:
Occasionally I watch various news outlets, and hearing an evil or just plain dumb statement, my fleshly reaction is judgment and anger.
Grumpy Old Man Prayer (GOMP) Expansion.
No matter the source, personal or something observed, when my fleshly anger rises, I take notice of it and in the easy part and the hard part, stop and pray, “Lord Jesus, what is the most humble thing I can do or say at this moment?”
The peace and gentleness resulting from doing what my Savior would approve of are worth more than the expressions of my unworthy opinions.
How do I know the above statement is true? Far too often, I forget my grumpy old man prayer and experience the sadness of disobedience to the one who died for me.
And since He bids me seek His face,
Believe His Word and trust His grace,
I'll cast on Him my every care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!"
