Eternal Review: Basics 101 Just Pray, Why don’t Ya?

Eternal Review: Basics 101 Just Pray, Why don’t Ya?

“The consideration of these things has long engaged me to attend to this matter, with the utmost diligence and care, and exactness of search and inquiry, that I have been capable of. It is a subject on which my mind has been peculiarly intent, ever since I first entered on the study of divinity. But as to the success of my inquiries it must be left to the judgment of the reader of the following treatise.”

The price of knowledge is eternal review. With that in mind, we are reviewing some of the fundamentals from the history of the podcast.

The first of the principles we discussed is our need to pray or pick up on our commitment to developing the discipline of prayer, even if our prayer lives are marked with fits and starts.

The principle holds true; as children learn to speak, we learn to pray through prayer.

Even more strikingly, we understand parents' patience as they listen intently to gibberish in the form of non-sensical sounds and thoughts without structure and still encourage childish communication.

Sometimes, we have the mistaken idea that we are more patient than God, and He expects us to stay silent until we have learned to pray appropriately.

Or worse, we are lead to believe God cares more about the "grammar" of prayer than He does for the soul being poured out to Him by His redeemed and adopted children.

Throw out the rules (grammar) you have been taught about prayer or anything which hinders you from coming to Him in personal communion. He leads us into all truth and will mature us into growing, Biblical, dynamic, sincere, and soul-satisfying prayer lives, but that is made more difficult until we begin to pray.

So, just start praying. Why don't ya?

Philippians 4:6-7

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Glory to God in the highest.
