Devotional 95: 2023 A Year of Jubilee and Forgiveness

Devotional 95: 2023 A Year of Jubilee and Forgiveness

A prayer for a year of Jubilee, forgiveness, restoration, and return.

The year of Jubilee, a year of rest given by God's grace was also a year of trust. Imagine a year of no work, just a celebration!

Leviticus 25:10-11

10 'You shall thus consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim a release through the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you, and each of you shall return to his own property, and each of you shall return to his family. 11 'You shall have the fiftieth year as a jubilee; you shall not sow, nor reap its after growth, nor gather in from its untrimmed vines. 12 'For it is a jubilee; it shall be holy to you. You shall eat its crops out of the field.

Set apart, holy, how difficult do we find it to relax in trusting God in His determination to be good to His people.

Physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually., relationally, and even your need (s), this seems a timely prayer. Seeking the peace God has promised already.

Tied inextricably with rest and trust is forgiveness. The last few years have stretched and even broken many relationships between God's people. We are also praying restoration of our relationships.

Jubilee is living in the presence of God.

One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to meditate in His temple.

Psalm 27:4

Jubilee is living with one another.

And so, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. 14 And beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

Colossians 3:12-17
