There are other times when our sorrow for our sins burst forth, remember like, Yahweh-Perazim, breaking through in victory, we are open and laid bare before the cross in repentance.
The good news is the miraculous news. As a matter of fact is, we are not alone, and our explosive, humbling repentance and deep sorrow are evidence of our salvation.
Why, why do we sin and sin and then cry out this way only from time to time?
Robert Bruce might have an insight:
"Not, my lord, as I should be; if you and I both were fully persuaded that there were a hell, we would do otherwise than we do."
We believe the whole counsel of God and our souls' glory in our forgiveness and the love of God:
1 Peter 1:8-9
and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.
Never forbid yourself bursting forth with sorrow and tears at the broken sorrow for our sins. Perhaps as Bruce's thought implies, if we believed more fully, we would live differently and repent explosively in sorrow more often. Please do not linger on that, confess repent and believe. His promises are forever true. Let your times of great sadness be part of your assurance. You are a child of God.
And since He bids me seek His face,
Believe His Word and trust His grace,
I'll cast on Him my every care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!"
