All God's people are called to Prayer. It is the need of our new inner man to experience communion with our Savior, Almighty God.
We might say we are all under a general call to Prayer.
Some though, are called to have a prayer ministry.
A prayer ministry is defined as a personal call to take up daily prayers for specific people to minister to them.
Jonathan Edwards is an example of our general call, and yet it is said of him:
"Prayer was both a discipline and a part of his leisure."
The Prophet Samuel felt the call to a prayer ministry when he responded to Israel's desire for a king to lead them
1 Samuel 12
23 "Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by ceasing to pray for you; but I will instruct you in the good and right way.
General or ministry, God's call on our lives lead us to desire a growing, Biblical, dynamic, soul-satisfying prayer life.
Both contain the exhortation:
Pray for your family.
Pray for your friends.
Pray for those who love you,
Pray for those who are your enemies,
Pray according to God's will for them all, not your will, or your anger, or sadness, but God's good and gracious will.
October Blessing:
This October is going to have some similarities to last October in a few ways.
I am going to try to publish daily short devotionals focusing on thanksgiving.
There will be a giveaway, an announcement about that in a couple of days.
The Free Range Preacher would like to declare the upcoming three months the 2020 quarter of thanksgiving.
We will have interviews this October. For certain, we will have Paul Nichols, the artist, and creator of the Pop cycle Cross, a "Faith of a Child Reminder.
We will also have an episode or two, hearing from my Daughter of Strength and My Son of Promise about their observations of a praying father.
And perhaps one more from a prayer warrior with a unique ministry.
