Devotional 122 - Season 7 - In Every Circumstance, Pray
While meditating in the paddock on God's goodness, "The LORD is good to all, And His mercies are over all His works." Psalm 145:9
I mused about our sorrows in this life, which led me to "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but desire fulfilled is a tree of life." Proverbs 13:12 Those thoughts brought me to Romans 8, where Paul tells us we will hope until our final redemption.
When we feel like David,
"For evils beyond number have surrounded me; My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see; They are more numerous than the hairs of my head; And my heart has failed me." Psalm 40:12, what keeps us going? God gives us a path, and that path is His goodness.
"I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living." Psalm 27:13
"Wait for the LORD; Be strong, and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD."" Psalm 27:14
"Hear, O LORD, and be gracious to me; O LORD, be Thou my helper." 11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing; Thou hast loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness; 12 That my soul may sing praise to Thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to Thee forever. Psalm 30:10-12
Our Meditation:
When we are sad, turn to God in supplication. While we are praying, remember God is good. When He answers us, we give thanks in our prayers.
Brethren, let us pray for one another to overcome the weakness of the flesh through prayer.
