When your host struggles in seasons of conviction of my sins, there is a pattern, and it is not is not joyful.
There are two millstone attitudes that grind, this principal to discouragement.
I tell myself, "I should be better than this," and "I am failing in the worthy walk."
Neither of these self-accusations brings me closer to obedience or joy; just the opposite is true.
Neither helps me love God more, either. You might say they are counterproductive.
Confession and repentance in sincerity are indeed an integral aspects of our worthy walk.
Our joy - our names are written in heaven.
Luke 10:20
Because:
Our sorrows over our sins are a part of the worthy walk.
And our self-righteousness nullifies the grace of God.
Galatians 2:21
We are told to confess and repent.
1 John 1:9
Sincere confession brings no regret.
2 Corinthians 7:10
Sincere confession is not a license to sin.
"May it never be."
Every lengthy prayer in the Bible contains confession; why?
Romans 3:23
Our So What?
There is no room for self-righteousness in our worthy walk.
Our ecstatic joy is confession, constant and consistent, is part of our worthy walk.
Glory to our Savior, Jesus the Christ.
