A Layman's Look at the Whole Bible - How did Jesus Use the Bible? A Review

A Layman's Look at the Whole Bible - How did Jesus Use the Bible? A Review

Review #2 of our commentary series, as we prepare for two essential keys for meaningful Biblical nutrition.

In our first episode of "A Layman's Look at the Whole Bible," we say the Bible is the boss of us, and we are not the boss of it.

Today we will discover the Bible is a genuine love letter from our Creator to all mankind.

The case is made by:

The Bible's witness.

The Devil's witness.

Jesus' Witness.

In the Sermon on the mount.

In His responses to His critics.

In His attestation of the Book of Jonah.

So we read the Bible as literature, but the fundamental rule is that we read the Bible in the most literal way possible with these genres in mind.

This will be critical as we read what God has revealed about Himself through the Bible. If we cannot take this revelation literally, we are lost to our own predilections.

And since He bids me seek His face,

Believe His Word and trust His grace,

I'll cast on Him my every care,

And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!"
