A Layman's Look at the Whole Bible. - Faith Is Necessary

A Layman's Look at the Whole Bible. - Faith Is Necessary

Our last episode before Christmas 2022 (in my culture), we bracket this episode once again with the music of Marvin and Chapman's “That’s What Love Is” and their moving rendition of “Mary Did You Know.” Merry Christmas!

Our Bible reading, studying, and listening, we must come to the word of God as we live the Christian life by faith. For the word of God to have its rightful place, we must read what God has revealed to us through the Law, Prophets, Gospels, and New Testament letters believing what it says about itself.

Knowing:

Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

1 Corinthians 1:20-21

We know that in our natural state, there will be things in "the message preached" sound like foolishness. Faith is an essential prerequisite to understanding the Bible in its fullness.

To that end, we examine the following:

The Righteous walk by faith.

Habakkuk 2:4

Galatians 3:11

Hebrews 10:38

Romans 1:16-17

Then, The word of God stands until all is accomplished:

Matthew 5:17-18

Matthew 24:35

The word is written to us:

Matthew 7:24

God's word is profound in its application to each one of us:

Deuteronomy 32:46-47

Matthew 5:37-38

John 15:7

1 John 2:23-24

From the Old and New Testaments of God's word, we learn:

Ezekiel 18:3-4 We are sinners.

Joel 2:32  Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Romans 10:12

Further, we find:

God takes care of His people, always.

God is faithful to His promises.

He is faithful to save His to the end.

God is not constrained to save by many or by few. Our only approach to God is with a broken and contrite heart.

"What a man is on his knees before God, that he is and nothing more."
