Day 1 of our October surprise, this year, we focus on what the author of the Bible says to help sharpen our prayers. Our personal prayers and those we intercede for should be informed by the God-head, Biblically, the Holy Spirit.
The witness of Scripture is that God should be the very heart of our lives, and we are designed and renewed to listen to the Holy Spirit for guidance in our prayers.
The author of the Bible:
"But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, 2 for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God."
2 Peter 1:20-21
It is His message to us.
His message is loud and clear:
"Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. 17 For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, 18 while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal."
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Our focus is on the eternal and unseen.
With the goal:
"Therefore also we have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him."
2 Corinthians 5:9
Pleasing God for His name's sake.
Our So What?
We let the author of God's letter inform all our prayers.
